HELP TO UKRAINE
This week, we as a parish sent to Bishops house the sum of €3,215 from our Mass Card stipends to support the local Bishop on the border of Poland and Ukraine as mentioned last week.
Well done to our local schools in Grange and Ardfinnan who held a huge collection of toys, toiletries and many other items needed, and to Freda who collected and dropped them off before being sent to Ukraine this week, Well done everyone!
Also this week the Irish Bishops Conference met in Maynooth. They noted that millions of people have been forced to flee their homes as refugees. It is a source of inspiration that people all over Ireland are responding with customary generosity to support humanitarian efforts in this crisis. Many parish communities have already established links with charitable projects to support refugees and those remaining in Ukraine. Recognising these urgent needs, the bishops are asking that a special collection be taken up at all Masses on the weekend of Saturday 26 / Sunday 27 March.
Rather than have an extra collection, we will simply ask that you give what you can by placing donations into our special envelopes for this unique collection, or give extra to our usual offertory collection, and the balance will be sent directly to Bishops House for the sole purpose to help agencies in Ukraine.
There are many other initiatives across our locality and country. So your support to any of these agencies is showing solidarity and Christian witness to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, make the stranger welcome. Thank you for all of your care and compassion during these deplorable times.
PARISH PILGRIMAGE – PETITIONS
A number of parishioners along with Fr Michael will be heading to San Giovanni in two weeks’ time, on our parish pilgrimage to the shrine of Padre Pio. If you would like any personal petitions placed at the tomb of St Pio, you can fill out the slips available in all the church porches, or simply write them on a plain piece of paper and drop them into the baskets at the altar area by Sunday 28th March.
DAFFODIL DAY Friday March 25th A coffee morning will be held in Ardfinnan Community Centre from 9am to 12pm in aid Irish Cancer Society,. Please support.
