PAPAL MESSAGE FOR THE DAY FOR LIFE 2023

The Holy Father Francis was informed of the celebration of the 2023 Day for Life in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales under the theme “Listen to Her” and sends his greetings and good wishes to all the participants.

In listening to Mary, our Mother, and following her example, he invites us to discover our personal call from God who is the source of our existence, reminding us that, “Each human being is called by God to enjoy the fullness of life; and, is entrusted to the maternal care of the Church. Every threat to human dignity and life cannot but have an effect on her heart, on her maternal ‘womb’. To defend life is not an ideology for the Church. It is a reality; a human reality which involves all Christians, precisely because they are Christian and because they are human”. (General Audience, 25 March 2020).

END OF SCHOOL YEAR

Just to wish all our students, staff and families a lovely summer break, and special CONGRATULATIONS to our sixth classes who are moving on to pastures new! Enjoy the next adventure in secondary schools.

DIOCESAN NEEDS/PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION

The Collection for the Needs of the Diocese will be taken up next weekend.

This annual collection is held every year on the Sunday closest to the Solemnity of Ss Peter and Paul on June 29th.  62.5% of this collection, along with the diocesan levy, goes towards the funding of Diocesan Needs.  The remaining 37.5% of the income from this collection is given to the Peter’s Pence collection. The faithful’s offerings to the Holy Father through the Peter’s Pence Collection are destined to Church needs, to humanitarian initiatives and social promotion projects, as well as to the support of the Holy See.

COLLECTORS / MINISTRY OF WELCOME

Now that we are back to passing the baskets along, we would be grateful for any helpers to assist at Mases across all our churches. It is always lovely to have someone at the main door welcoming parishioners and visitors, as well as assisting the passing along and forward the collection baskets efficiently during Mass. But it is also reassuring to have a few people around just in case anyone needs extra help while at Mass.

If you are regularly at Mass in any of our churches, and would like to be part of this team, please let Fr Michael know so we can set up a team of helpers in this area. Thank you to our dedicated teams already in place – but the more the better to look after our parishoners and visitors.
