HELP TO UKRAINE
The Irish Bishops have asked for a Special Collection to be taken up at Masses next weekend – 26/27 March to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and especially the families and children who have had to flee their homeland in advance of the Russian invasion. The proceeds of this Special Collection will be directed to Caritas Internationalis, which is the helping hand of the Church on the ground in the Ukraine and the surrounding region. Please be as generous as you can. Thank you.
Rather than have an extra collection, we will simply ask that you give what you can by placing donations into our special envelopes for this unique collection, or give extra to our usual offertory collection, and the balance will be sent directly to Bishops House for the sole purpose to help agencies in Ukraine.
There are many other initiatives across our locality and country. So your support to any of these agencies is showing solidarity and Christian witness to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, make the stranger welcome. Thank you for all of your care and compassion during these deplorable times.
PARISH PILGRIMAGE – PETITIONS
A number of parishioners along with Fr Michael will be heading to San Giovanni on 28th March, on our parish pilgrimage to the shrine of Padre Pio. If you would like any personal petitions placed at the tomb of St Pio, you can fill out the slips available in all the church porches, or simply write them on a plain piece of paper and drop them into the baskets at the altar area by Sunday 27th March.
(As I am on the parish pilgrimage, there will be no weekday Masses Monday 28th – Friday 1st April)
DAFFODIL DAY
Friday March 25th A coffee morning will be held in Ardfinnan Community Centre from 9am to 12pm in aid Irish Cancer Society,. Please support.
THANK YOU
I just want to thank Bishop Cullinan, Fr Garrett Desmond, Fr Brendan Crowley, Fr Billy Meehan, Fr John Nally, Fr Bobby Power, Fr Kevin Deakin and Fr Dominic Feehan who all assisted me last week as I followed the guidelines and self-isolated when tested positive for Covid-19. Luckily, I had only a mild head cold for one day and thanks to Bishop and my brother priests, we were able to ensure all our services were offered on a busy week for a Sunday and St Patrick’s Day across the parishes.
