NIRE/TOURANEENA PARISH

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY TAKES PLACE THIS YEAR ON 23RD OCTOBER.

World Mission Sunday is the Holy Father’s annual appeal for spiritual and financial support so that the life-giving work of overseas mission and missionaries can continue. It always falls on the second last Sunday in October, meaning this year it will be celebrated over this weekend and is coordinated in Ireland by Missio Ireland.

All offerings made on behalf of World Mission Sunday become part of the Holy Father’s Universal Solidarity Fund. This Fund supports missionary activities in over 1,100 young dioceses, mostly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. As young dioceses grow, so do their needs. On top of this, they are often found in remote areas devastated by conflict or natural disasters. The Universal Solidarity Fund provides aid so that missionaries can continue to go to these places to share the love of God.

Please use the envelopes in the weekly collection boxes, and any extra money given next weekend will be added to our parish donations for this important cause. Thank you as always in advance for your support.

MEETING WITH PARISHONERS AND ALL INVOLVED IN MINISTERIES

A short general meeting with parishioners and all involved or who would like to get involved in ministries (readers, ministers, choirs, flower arrangers, collectors, sacristans, parents of servers) will take place in each church in the coming weeks, after the evening Mass for the Holy Souls Novena. This is just an opportunity to thank all involved in ministries, how I or the diocese can help support these roles, and to encourage more parishioners to become involved and play an active part in their parish. Everyone is welcome to see how we can grow our parish community across our local parish churches.

Newcastle: Tuesday 1 November: 7.30pm

Grange: Wednesday 2 November: 7.30pm

Ballybacon: Thursday 3 November: 7.30pm

Ardfinnan: Monday 7 November 7.30pm

Fourmilewater: Tuesday 8 November 7.30pm

ARDFINNAN CHURCH MAINTENANCE CLOSURE

This is to allow the replacing the flooring area in the church, as the tile and carpets in the church are now well worn at this stage and the lino in the centre is damaged in parts. Again, this is possible thanks to the support of the monthly Parish and development Fund in the boxes of envelopes.

9.45am Mass on Tuesday 25th will be in Grange and Friday 28th in Ballybacon.

**PLEASE NOTE MASS ON TUESDAY AT 9.45am IN GRANGE TO ALLOW STUDENTS FROM THE SCHOOL TO ATTEND**

BAPTISMS

Please contact Paddy in the Parish Office on 052-746 4408 or Fr Michael in Newcastle / Fourmilewater for those who wish to book baptisms in the coming months. We can now have two families at one time – but would ask that each family only bring a maximum of 15 people with them, to keep us all safe.

God bless, and keep safe!

Fr. Michael
