ARRANGING A BAPTISM OR A CHURCH WEDDING
The ones responsible for arranging a baptism are the parents of the child to be baptised and they also complete the necessary paperwork. Parents should think carefully about who they will ask to be Godparents as they are to be people of practicing faith who will assist the parents in their child’s faith development. It is also a requirement that there be only two godparents – a Godfather and a Godmother – and that they be at least sixteen years of age and have been Confirmed in the Catholic Faith.
The ones responsible for arranging a Church wedding are the couple to be married and they must complete a Pre-Nuptial Enquiry with the priest in the parish where they are living three and six months prior to the proposed date of marriage. Anything less could jeopardise the proposed date. The couple are also required to attend a Church approved Pre- Marriage Course, with Accord being the accepted one in the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore
