NOTICES AND BOOKLETS / LEAFLETS

We would be grateful that if you wish any notices be placed on our notice boards or any reading material / leaflets to be left out in our churches, if you could contact Fr Michael or leave them at the sacristy door. We are happy to assist and put these out, but recently posters have caused damage to paintwork and woodwork. Certain posters have also been covered, and we are required to have certain information permanently on display.

THANK YOU

Many thanks for your contributions last week for the upkeep of our parishes and churches:

Ardfinnan/ Ballybacon/ Grange: €1,010 & €925 Parish & Development Fund

ARDFINNAN CHURCH MAINTENANCE CLOSURE

Ardfinnan church will be closed from Monday 24th – Friday 28th October.

This is to allow the replacing the flooring area in the church, as the tile and carpets in the church are now well worn at this stage and the lino in the centre is damaged in parts. Again, this is possible thanks to the support of the monthly Parish and development Fund in the boxes of envelopes.

9.30am Mass on Tuesday 25th will be in Grange and Friday 28th in Ballybacon.

SAFEGUARDING TEAM IN OUR PARISHES

The Parishes of Ardfinnan, Ballybacon, Grange & Newcastle, Fourmilewater are part of the Diocese of Waterford & Lismore.

As a constituent member of the Catholic Church in Ireland, we recognise and uphold the dignity and rights of all children, are committed to ensuring their safety and well-being, and will work in partnership with parents and guardians to do this.We recognise each child as a gift from God, and we value and encourage the participation of children in all activities that enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development.                                        All Church personnel (including clergy, religious, staff and volunteers) have a responsibility to safeguard children through promoting their welfare, health and development in a safe and caring environment that supports their best interests and prevents abuse. Ongoing training and information are regularly given to priests and safeguarding representatives, and we will soon hold a meeting with the new Director of Safeguarding in our diocese, Stephen Plunkett.

Our current Committee members in this parish are: Pat O’Connor, Peggy O’Gorman, Elaine Lonergan, Norma Finnegan-Murphy, Kathleen Condon, Brendan O’Connor and Fr Michael Toomey.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION WEKEND MASSES

This weekend, we welcome many of our 6th Class students and their parents to the first of our ‘Confirming Our Children’ parish masses.  The candidates and their parents will be involved from time to time in the readings, offertory, and other reflections at our community weekend Mass, in preparation of them receiving their Confirmation in the spring.

We remember all our young parishioners as they prepare for these wonderful sacraments in their lives, and special thanks to all the 2nd Classes and their families who were involved in our Masses last weekend.

TULLAGHMEELAN CHURCH HARVEST FESTIVAL

This is taking place this Sunday, 9th October at 3.30pm in Tullaghmeelan Church. Everyone is welcome and we wish our Anglican friends and community every good wish and blessing.
