M.M.M. VISITING THIS WEEK
This weekend, we will welcome Sr Anne Carr of the Medical Missionaries of Mary who is visiting parishes across the diocese to tell of the work the MMM are doing across the world, and asking for prayers and support for the vital work they do. We welcome Sr Anne to our churches over the weekend.
COLLECTION FOR THE NEEDS OF THE DIOCESE
Next weekend, we have the Annual Petters Pence collection, which goes towards the support of the needs of the diocese. This collection goes towards the support of the effective running of our diocese, in such areas as St Johns Pastoral Centre, bereavement counselling, youth supports among others. A letter from Bishop Cullinan has been issued on the website and is available on the notice boards. Envelopes are available in the boxes parishioners have, or others are available at the entrance porches. Thank you in advance for your help with this important collection.
Please keep in your prayers the boys and girls of Newcastle and Ballymacarbry, and Tooraneena Schools, who on Tuesday will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Cullinan. We pray the Holy Spirit will strengthen and inspire them on their continued journey in faith.

UPDATES FROM PARISH PASTORAL COUNCILS:
At the recent meetings of the parish pastoral councils the following main issues were discussed:
It is proposed to have the Cemetery Week of Masses to be held in the Churches in the evenings and the graves will be blessed afterwards. This will be from Monday 25th – Friday 29th July across the 5 Churches. Further details will be given next week.
Mass Rock Newcastle – Mass will take place (weather permitting) on Saturday 2nd July with Rosary from 2pm and Mass at 2.30pm.
We discussed and it was reconfirmed that Cemetery at the Church in Newcastle is closed and any remaining plots are reserved for clergy. This was a decision made several years ago.
The update to the sanctuary in Ballybacon with the Altar and lectern / stands and Stations of the Cross will be in place in the coming week. Thanks to Tony Murphy on the BN&B CE Scheme and all the lads for their help with this.
We are looking into the possibility of a Parish Mini retreat to Knock mid-week in Sept/Oct with a 1 night stay, as well as a possible Pilgrimage to Padua to visit the Shrine of St Anthony next year.
All readers and ministers are required to sign in to the book in the sacristy, regardless of whether they process from the Sacristy or not, to maintain our high safeguarding standards.
It is proposed that future meetings are joint between both parish councils alternating between both meeting venues, and new members are most welcome as we plan for our parishes together.
ARRANGING A BAPTISM OR A CHURCH WEDDING
The ones responsible for arranging a baptism are the parents of the child to be baptised and they also complete the necessary paperwork. Parents should think carefully about who they will ask to be Godparents as they are to be people of practicing faith who will assist the parents in their child’s faith development. It is also a requirement that there be only two godparents – a Godfather and a Godmother – and that they be at least sixteen years of age and have been Confirmed in the Catholic Faith.
The ones responsible for arranging a Church wedding are the couple to be married and they must complete a Pre-Nuptial Enquiry with the priest in the parish where they are living three and six months prior to the proposed date of marriage. Anything less could jeopardise the proposed date. The couple are also required to attend a Church approved Pre- Marriage Course, with Accord being the accepted one in the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore.
If you require a Baptismal Certificate, these can now be requested online for our parish website on www.abgnfparish.ie Only the parents or the person themselves can apply for these certificates.

NOTICES AND BOOKLETS / LEAFLETS
We would be grateful that if you wish any notices be placed on our notice boards or any reading material / leaflets to be left out in our churches, if you could contact Fr Michael or leave them at the sacristy door. We are happy to assist and put these out, but recently posters have caused damage to paintwork and woodwork. Certain posters have also been covered, and we are required to have certain information permanently on display.
Thank you for your assistance with this request.
CCTV CAMERAS / LIVESTREAM
Please note that for the protection and security of everyone CCTV cameras are in operation in our churches. All of our Masses are Live streamed in Ardfinnan and are at other times broadcast from Newcastle , Fourmilewater, Ballybacon and Grange on Churchservices.tv and Facebook Live pages.
Please contact Paddy in the Parish Office on 052-746 4408 or Fr Michael in Newcastle / Fourmilewater for those who wish to book baptisms in the coming months. We can now have two families at one time – but would ask that each family only bring a maximum of 15 people with them, to keep us all safe.
God bless, and keep safe!
