ARRANGING A WEDDING OR BAPTISM
The ones responsible for arranging a baptism are the parents of the child to be baptised and they also complete the necessary paperwork. Parents should think carefully about who they will ask to be Godparents as they are to be people of practicing faith who will assist the parents in their child’s faith development. It is also a requirement that there be only two godparents – a Godfather and a Godmother – and that they be at least sixteen years of age and have been Confirmed in the Catholic Faith.
The ones responsible for arranging a Church wedding are the couple to be married and they must complete a Pre-Nuptial Enquiry with the priest in the parish where they are living three and six months prior to the proposed date of marriage. Anything less could jeopardise the proposed date. The couple are also required to attend a Church approved Pre- Marriage Course, with Accord being the accepted one in the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore.
BAPTISM CERTIFICATES
If you require a Baptismal Certificate, these can now be requested online for our parish website on www.abgnfparish.ie Only the parents or the person themselves can apply for these certificates.
THANK YOU
Many thanks for your contributions last week for the upkeep of our parishes and churches:

ST DECLAN – PATRON OF OUR DIOCESE -24th JULY
God our Father, we give thanks for the life of St. Declan who sowed the seeds of faith among the people of the Déise. We praise his name. We visit the places made holy by his presence. We walk in his footsteps, on the path taken by generations of pilgrims as we journey to the Father’s House. We pray that we may step in faith, hope and love, walking with Jesus, guided by the Holy Spirit on our journey home.
We make this prayer, through Christ your Son, our Lord, Amen.
CCTV CAMERAS / LIVESTREAM
Please note that for the protection and security of everyone CCTV cameras are in operation in our churches. All of our Masses are Live streamed in Ardfinnan and are at other times broadcast from Newcastle , Fourmilewater, Ballybacon and Grange on Churchservices.tv and Facebook Live pages.
BAPTISMS
Please contact Paddy in the Parish Office on 052-746 4408 or Fr Michael in Newcastle / Fourmilewater for those who wish to book baptisms in the coming months. We can now have two families at one time – but would ask that each family only bring a maximum of 15 people with them, to keep us all safe.
God bless, and keep safe!
